Houat et Hoëdic

A project to secure the power supply of the two islands through power modulation and energy distribution

Number of customers concerned:

  • 600 customers spread over 8 secondary substations

Enedis is testing out a ground-breaking solution in Brittany with a view to increasing the security of the power supply on the islands of Houat and Hoëdic, off the coast of Morbihan. These two islands are connected to the continent by an underwater power cable. In case of failure of the cable, Enedis has put in place an innovative fall-back solution which averts the effects of power cuts by distributing the available energy. This solution thus lets customers on the two islands benefit from electricity and avoid investment into an additional cable.

Scope

  • Demand management / peak shaving
  • Installation of innovative equipment (observation, control)
  • Advanced functions for managing the grid (status estimation, voltage regulation, self-healing, demand / production balance, active management of distributed resources...)
